Info for 12 X 5

Recorded in Chicago, the Rolling Stones's second album, 12 x 5, is a fascinating snapshot of the band in their nascent years, packed with early Jagger-Richards compositions, raucous r'n'b covers and best-selling singles like 'It's All Over Now'. This HighRes re-master is in stereo and allows the band's youthful energy to burst across the decades as never before.

Tracks for the Rolling Stones 12 x 5 (and the UK EP, Five By Five) were recorded at the renowned Chess Studios in Chicago, then a creative hub of rhythm and blues innovation. It was the perfect place for the young band to fine-tune their unique take on the artists who'd inspired them.

Bill Wyman remembers, 'We felt we were taking part in a little bit of history - after all, those studios were used by Muddy Waters as well as Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. We knew pretty well what numbers we wanted to get in the can - like 'It's All Over Now' - and the atmosphere was so marvellous that we got through them in double quick time. Then, on the next day, both Chuck and Muddy came in to see us. Fantastic.'
