Biography Giulio De Nardo, Claudio Rado, Priska Comploi, Francesca Ascioti, Sestier Armonico
Sestier Armonico
was founded in Basel, Switzerland, by Giulio De Nardo and developed within the context of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
The ensemble's musicians met during their studies at this institution and shared a passion for early music and for performing on period instruments.
Sestier Armonico's first project was the production "Bach in Venice," concertos for harpsichord and strings after Vivaldi & Marcello, released by the Swiss label Divox Antiqua.
The ensemble regularly performs at international festivals and concert series, presenting programs that promote the rich heritage of early music, with a particular focus on unpublished or little-known repertoire.
Giulio De Nardo
was born in Treviso (Italy) and received his first organ and piano lessons in his hometown with Giampietro Rosato. He then continued his studies in the organ class of Roberto Antonello at the "Arrigo Pedrollo" Conservatory in Vicenza, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 2016. After completing his studies in Italy, he moved to Basel (Switzerland), where he was admitted to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis to study organ with Tobias Lindner. At the same time, he began his harpsichord studies with Francesco Corti at the same institute. In 2018, he successfully completed his organ master's degree and was admitted to the harpsichord class of Andrea Marcon to complete a second specialized master's degree, which he completed with distinction in 2020.
He has received significant awards in several international competitions, including second prize at the Gianni Gambi International Harpsichord Competition in Pesaro (Italy), first prize and the Audience Award at the Valère Basilica International Organ Competition in Sion (Switzerland), and third prize at the Paul Hofhaimer International Organ Competition in Innsbruck (Austria).
De Nardo performs as a soloist and continuo player on the harpsichord and organ and also works as a musical assistant in opera productions. He regularly collaborates with internationally renowned orchestras and vocal ensembles, including the Venice Baroque Orchestra, La Cetra Baroque Orchestra, and Odhecaton Ensemble. He has also participated in recordings for record labels such as Deutsche Grammophon and Alpha Classics.
As founder and director of Sestier Armonico, an ensemble dedicated to historical performance practice on period instruments, he realized the project "Bach in Venice" (DIVOX Antiqua, 2023) in 2021. He combined the harpsichord compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach with the original orchestral works of Antonio Vivaldi and Alessandro Marcello to create new, previously unreleased concertos for concertante harpsichord and string orchestra.
In 2025, he founded the record label inAures together with Inés Moreno Uncilla.
