Oliver Ostermann
A native of Lower Austria, Oliver Ostermann received his musical training at the Josef Matthias Hauer Konservatorium Wiener Neustadt and at The Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna where he studied solo singing, piano, composition and orchestra conducting. As well as his international concert career, with, for example, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra Chemnitz, the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, he is in demand as a conductor and theatre music director. Engagements have taken him to the Vienna Volksoper, the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl, the Graz Opera, the Chemnitz Opera and to Canada. From 2010 to 2019 he was First Conductor at the Bühne Baden.
As a composer, he is at home in a wide variety of genres including opera, oratorio, church music, concertante music, television and trailer music. The soprano, Daniela Fally premiered his song cycle Von Vögeln und Insekten at the Wiener Musikverein. As a film composer he has worked with the Hofer Symphoniker, and with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as an arranger. 2019 saw the world premiere of his musical Die Schattenkaiserin at the Tyrolean State Theatre as well as his children’s opera Bei der Feuerwehr wird der Kaffee kalt at the Chemnitz Opera, under his direction.
