Biography Deuce & Charger

Deuce & Charger
Over a series of tastemaker-supported releases and standout collaborations, London-based singer and producer/DJ duo Deuce & Charger have emerged as a fresh new sound in melodic drum and bass. Their combination of emotive songwriting and electro-inspired production described by Radio 1’s Rene LaVice as “very different, very unique - it’s cool!”

Deuce & Charger's distinctive song-led, synth sound has seen releases on Viper, Liquicity, Technqiue, Subsphere, High Tea Music and Mayan Audio, playlisting on 1Xtra, and plays on Radio 1 (Friction and Rene LaVice) and Kiss Fresh (Andi Durrant). The duo have been featured in Mixmag and DJ Mag, championed by leading blogs, radio station and channels including Data Transmission, Bassrush, Most Addictive, YourEDM, Rough Tempo, Kool FM, Skank & Bass, Magnetic Magazine and Drum & Bass HQ, and remixed by Dossa & Locuzzed (Viper), Chords (Ram Records) and Kronology (Technique).

In 2016 Deuce & Charger released their huge single, ‘Who Can You Trust?’ (“a summer smasher” – DJ Mag; “fresh to death” – Magnetic Mag) and appeared on two of the year’s biggest drum and bass compilations: Viper’s ‘Summer Slammers’ and Liquicity’s ‘Alchemy 2’ in collaboration with NCT. They rounded off the year with ‘A Leap Of Faith’ / ‘The Spirit Guide’ (“the highest quality” – DJ Mag; “an epic hands-in-the-air sensation” – Bassrush; “proper fire once again!” – Magnetic Magazine).

2017 was an even bigger year for the duo with the release of ‘Labyrinth’ / ‘Waifs & Strays’ (“next level” – DJ Mag; “Deuce & Charger continue to deliver the drum and bass illness” – Bassrush). Deuce & Charger also made their live debut, taking their unique, high-energy live vocal/DJ sets to Viper and Mayan Audio nights, and to the epic Let It Roll summer festival. Their Let It Roll performance was followed by the release of the duo’s collaboration with Kritix, ‘Hearts In Overdrive’, as the lead track from the massive Mayan Audio Summer Album.

Deuce & Charger smashed straight into 2018 with 'Avalanche' / 'Supercollider'; their debut single on Mayan Audio. 'Avalanche' was premiered on Bassrush ("a thundering hands-in-the-air anthem") and also supported on KissFresh and Drum & Bass HQ.

In summer 2018 Deuce & Charger dropped three releases in quick succession. The first was 'Nothingness Lasts Forever', a powerful and atmospheric collaboration with Toronto Is Broken on his critically acclaimed album 'You Are (Not) Alone' (Viper). The second was 'Diamonds', showcasing Deuce & Charger's trade-mark cross-over vocal and synth sound on the massive Technique Recordings Summer LP.

The third was the duo's debut release on Subsphere Records, the hazy sun-kissed single 'A Simple Twist Of Fate' / 'Losing Touch'. Premiered by Rene LaVice on Radio 1 and supported by Bassrush and Most Addictive, the double A-side was the perfect soundtrack for those long hot holiday nights and the festival season.

Deuce & Charger rounded off the year with the emotive 'Natural High' / 'Frozen' single on Subsphere Records, which was described by DJ Mag as "euphoria inducing", and 'Dancing With My Eyes Closed' - one of the exclusive tracks on the Viper Annual 2019 alongside drum & bass heavyweights such as Matrix & Futurebound, Brookes Brothers, Koven and Cyantific.

Showing no sign of slowing down, Deuce & Charger started 2019 with 'Intertwined', their emotive half-time collaboration with Indivision on Subsphere Records, and provided feature vocals for the High Maintenance dancefloor banger 'My World' (High Tea Music). In the early summer, the duo also unveiled their Lost Together project, with lead track 'Only You & I' (Subsphere Records) being premiered exclusively on Data Transmission.

'We Are Made Of Light' followed at the end of summer 2019 and became Deuce & Charger's biggest track to date. It was immediately added to Apple Music's Breaking Dance playlist and described by DJ Mag as "hands-in-the-air vocals and euphoric nods aplenty". The single (the first on the duo's own Lost Together Music label) then picked up Spotify editorial support and was featured on YourEDM as a "classic summer D&B ballad" on the release of the dancefloor-focused Toronto Is Broken remix.

Deuce & Charger ended a huge 2019 by releasing 'Pressure', their collaboration track with Toronto Is Broken. Pulling off that rare trick of smashing it on club systems while also having the hooks to sound big on radio and streaming, 'Pressure' was added to Spotify's Massive Drum & Bass playlist on release and firmly established both artists as “ones to watch” for 2020.

In 2020, Deuce & Charger continue to rise from the underground of the drum & bass scene. Their dark, melodic track 'Shadowplay' was featured on the Bass=Win Records compilation alongside pioneers and emerging artists. This was quickly followed by the duo's epic synth dancefloor tune 'Stay Tonight' which was premiered on Data Transmission and added to Apple Music's Breaking Dance and Global Dance, while also receiving more Spotify editorial and key independent playlist support.

Adding to this string of huge records, Deuce & Charger released 'Lies' in April. Bursting into life with a jungle break and timeless-sounding synth riff before crescendoing with a massive vocal hook and euphoric drop, the track was again premiered on Data Transmission and supported by Mollie Collins on her taste-making KissFresh show.
