Sonatas for piano four hands: What is the affinity between an insurance company and a performance of classical music? Between the cold technical assessment of a risk, the institutional tendency towards business, the pursuit of corporate profit, and the poetic search for an inner emotion, the cultural and sentimental yearning for a musical expression, the intellectual striving for spiritual perfection? Apparently none! And yet, with increasing frequency, the most advanced and enlightened entrepreneurship is flanking and supporting the most diverse socio-cultural initiatives, in a sort of reborn patronage, with the obvious aim not only of using this communication channel to convey its corporate image, but also and above all to help raise awareness, inform and guide not only potential customers, but the public at large. All this, certainly not out of a purely charitable sense (which in the long run could only turn out to be uneconomic, and therefore not sustainable by a private entity), but in the conviction that a more sensitised and better-informed potential clientele is then more conscious and more attentive even in its commercial choices, favouring the quality of those who actually provide the best product or service. The CAB (Compagnie di Assicurazioni di Bologna) are among those companies that have long espoused this entrepreneurial philosophy and are often present in support of the socio-cultural initiatives that flourish in their city of origin and are then reflected throughout the country. The two young musicians Paolo Dirani (born in Ravenna, but Bolognese by adoption) and Ferruccio Amelotti (Piedmontese from Alessandria, long rooted in Arese in the province of Milan) have dedicated all their enthusiasm, all their commitment, all their time to their love of music. Having concretely helped them in the recording and realisation of this collection, we hope it will not only achieve the aim of making the artists take a further and fundamental step in their professional growth, but will also enable contact between the public and a part of our musical culture in the twentieth century, through (not only materially I mean) CAB Assicurazioni.

Duo Clavier
was born in 1989 from the encounter between Paolo Dirani and Ferruccio Arnelotti, both pupils of the Hungarian pianist Ilonka Deckers. Currently, the duo has to its credit the publication of four CDs dedicated to the piano repertoire for four hands. Since 1990, they have been collaborating exclusively with 'Foné', for which they have recorded seven sonatas by Donizetti, the complete works of Rossini, Busoni, Martucci, Respighi, Casella, Liviabella, Malipiero and the complete Beethovenian production.
...brilliant, precise and enthralling performances by a very young duo of clear intelligence and sure taste... (William Weaver, Panorama)
...the young pianists very naturally reveal the magic of this music... (Jacques Bonnaure, Repertoire)
...precision, geometric taste, rhythmic clarity, not without a sensitive care, a deep desire for phrasing... (Piero Mioli, Pianotime)
