Info for Altar
NewDad releases their new album Altar on September 19th 2025, along with the news, the Irish band have released new single “Roobosh”, the track is accompanied with video from Peter Eason Daniels and Rory Mullen, the creative duo behind Altar.
Frontwoman Julie Dawson adds: “Roobosh is just about being fed up. I wanted to write one song for the album that allowed me to shout, to get out all my frustration. Women get angry and we are expected to contain our rage but on this song I just allowed myself to go there. I wanted a song where I could moan and scream cause we all need to do that every once in a while and honestly it was just a bit of fun, letting myself get angry when I never allow myself to.”
Written over the past 2 years and born from a period of yearning for their hometown following the band’s move to London, the record explores themes of relationships, homesickness, ambition and sacrifice. Following a huge run of headline shows across China and a run of festivals in Japan and North America, the trio will take the album on the road later this year for a UK/EU tour.
NewDad’s unique blend of spellbinding alt-rock has earned them international acclaim since their debut How in 2020. The Galway-born, London-based trio – comprised of Julie Dawson (vocals/guitar), Sean O’Dowd (guitar), and Fiachra Parslow (drums) – are known for their lush, immersive sound, blending shimmering melodies with cathartic guitar-driven intensity, all fused together by Julie Dawson’s emotionally resonant and intimate lyricism. Debut album Madra (2024) saw the trio expand their sonic palette further, touring extensively across the UK, Europe, Asia, and North America, and supporting icons like Pixies, The War on Drugs and Fontaines DC. With second album Altar – a reflection on identity, sacrifice, and the push-pull of comfort and ambition – the band are poised to showcase an even bolder evolution, and reach even greater heights.
