The Latin word for passionate is apasionado, and in any language, the meaning is synonymous with the extraordinary talent of drummer, producer & songwriter, Javo Barrera! “I believe timing in life is the most important thing; so this is the perfect time for my first album release as a label owner, musician, producer & songwriter on the worldwide contemporary jazz stage,” says Javo Barrera. The focus track, “Just In Time”, was co-produced & features the great Najee on flute.

„Far From Home“ is a pristine masterful work of art that will thoroughly delight jazz aficionados & audiophiles alike!

Javier “Javo” Barrera
is highly respected among piers as an A-List session musician. In 2014 he moved to Los Angeles from his home in Mexico City, and after settling in, he immediately began creating his long-anticipated contemporary Jazz debut, Far From Home. For this labor of love he has enlisted the master artistry of award-winning sax/flute aficionado, Najee, bass player Andrew Gouche (Andre Crouch/Prince), keyboardists Matt Rhode (American Idol) & Nick Smith (Stanley Clarke) and trumpeter Luis Aquino (Marc Anthony/Elvis Crespo). The debut single, “Just In Time,” featuring Najee, (co-produced by Javo and Najee) is scheduled for release in January 2017. In support of this amazing project, Javo and company will embark on a US tour in early 2017.

The Early Years: In his youth Javo attended the prestigious Esquela Ollin Yoliztli, in Mexico City, where he studied symphonic percussion, piano composition and arrangements under the tutelage of Maestro Armando Zerquera. Javo then went on to master a number of musical styles including classical, progressive rock and jazz before exploding onto the Latin Pop scene. After exceeding all professional expectations, Javo is now focused on the exploration of Jazz Fusion.

Credits: Javo has contributed to many successful projects, three of which have earned Grammy Awards: 2007 Best Latin Album of the year for La Quinta Estacion -El Mundo Se Equivoca; 2009 Best Latin Pop Album and Best Pop Duo or Group La Quinta Estacion - Sin Frenos; 2015 Best Traditional Pop Album, Gilberto Santa Rosa - Necesito Un Bolero. Over the years, Javo has served as Musical Director for some of the most highly acclaimed Latin-Pop artists, such as: Natalia Jimenez, La Quinta Estación, Cristian Castro, Carlos Baute, Emmanuel and Alejandra Guzman, among others.
