Info for Noè

Noè, the new album by Francesco Cavestri, is the natural evolution of his previous release, IKI – Bellezza Ispiratrice. Like the ark that weathered the flood, the album is a repository of diverse sounds, languages and genres that coexist, blend together and ultimately reach new musical horizons. Noè is an album of 10 previously unreleased original contemporary jazz tracks, featuring elements of electronic music, solo piano and symphonic arrangements.

The line-up ranges from the jazz trio (piano-double bass-drums) to the orchestral scale, from solo piano to electronic experimentation. The musicians involved are Riccardo Marchese and Alessandro Simeoni; the track Souvenir di un Bacio (Ararat) was recorded with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. The album was produced with the support of MIC and SIAE as part of the ‘Per Chi Crea’ programme.

Francesco Cavestri is an Italian pianist, composer and music educator. He graduated with top marks in Jazz Piano from the Bologna Conservatory and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. He has performed at some of the most prestigious festivals and jazz clubs in Italy and abroad. He was nominated for three consecutive years (2023–2025) by Musica Jazz as the youngest of the “New Talents of the Year” and received the IJVAS Award for young music educators and composers. In 2025, Cavestri was included by Forbes Italia in the list of the ‘Top 100 Under 30’, among the most talented and influential young Italians of the year. He is the first jazz musician to be included in this selection. He has collaborated with musicians such as Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Fresu and Willie Peyote. Since September 2025, Francesco Cavestri has been a Steinway Artist.

Francesco Cavestri
(born in 2003), pianist, composer and music educator. He began studying piano at the age of four and graduated with first-class honours at the age of 20 in jazz piano from the Bologna Conservatory. In the US, he studied and won two scholarships at Berklee College of Music in Boston and became involved in the New York music scene, also winning a scholarship at The New School in New York.

His discography comprises three albums: a debut album released in 2022 featuring nine original tracks, entitled “Early17” (the title deriving from the age at which the album was conceived and recorded), featuring the great trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso. The second album, entitled “IKI – bellezza ispiratrice”, was released on 19 January, distributed by Universal Music Italia, and features a collaboration with the most internationally renowned Italian jazz musician: Paolo Fresu. The third album, released on 16 February 2024, entitled “Una morte da mediano”, brings together a soundtrack that Cavestri recorded for a Rai Play Sound project. The albums will be presented on an Italian tour starting in spring 2024, with the opening date at the Blue Note in Milan on 14 April 2024.

Cavestri has also performed at major Italian and international festivals and jazz clubs (the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome, the Cantina Bentivoglio in Bologna, Wally’s Jazz Club in Boston, Smalls Jazz Club in New York, the Casa del Jazz in Rome, the Time in Jazz Festival in Berchidda, and the JazzMi Festival with two events at the Triennale in Milan: a trio concert at the Teatro Triennale and a workshop in the Sala Agorà). On 14 April, he kicked off the tour for his latest album “IKI – Bellezza Ispiratrice”, playing to a sold-out crowd at the Blue Note in Milan, before continuing with another successful performance at the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome, at the Casa del Jazz, The tour will continue with further dates across the peninsula (the AmbriaJazz Festival in Valtellina, the Entroterre Festival, Luglio Musicale Trapanese, Piano City Milano, Bologna Estate, etc.).

As an educator, Francesco Cavestri collaborates with the association Il Jazz Va a Scuola, organising concert-lectures, seminars and masterclasses in theatres, schools and at festivals, often alongside leading artists from the Italian and international scenes. On 30 April 2024, to mark UNESCO’s International Jazz Day, Cavestri received the IJVAS award as a young promoter and composer at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, alongside the great names of Italian jazz, including Stefano Bollani.

In September 2024, Francesco Cavestri began collaborating with Steinway & Sons Italia, performing at various events organised by the Italian branch that the historic piano brand had opened in Milan.

On 31 October 2024, Cavestri gave a concert at the Teatro Triennale in Milan for JazzMi, with Willie Peyote as a special guest. During the evening, which sold out more than a month in advance, the two artists presented a previously unreleased track they had created together.
