Rubicon Jazz is pleased to announce an album led by pianist/producer Mark Edwards and featuring no fewer than 18 of the UK’s most in-demand Jazz musicians bringing to life the songs composed by David Forman over a period of 70 eventful years. Forman’s compositions are inspired by his enduring love for the Great American Songbook tradition where melody is everything. Mark Edwards has taken these tunes and created a genre-blending journey from ballads to bossa nova and fusion influences.
Mark says: ‘David’s tunes are so diverse but every one has a wonderful melody and a kernel of harmony that’s perfect for jazz. We’ve worn our favourite influences on our sleeves throughout, and the project has been a joy from start to finish.’

“Pianist/programmer/producer/composer/arranger Mark Edwards is, by common consent, a ‘polymath’ musician of the highest standard who has performed and recorded with many elite international artists and musicians from across the musical panorama.” Mark Ede, BiGiAM UK Jazz pianist, Mark Edwards, has worked with top U.K. and U.S. names, including Johnny Dankworth, Bobby Wellins, Scott Hamilton and Ken Peplowski. He has performed at such prestigious festivals as Montreux, Montreal, Mount Fuji Japan, Singapore and the North Sea Jazz Festival, and established Jazz venues such as Ronnie Scotts, The Bottom Line New York, and Blue Note Milan.
