Info for 50
For his anniversary album ‘50’, the Irish hit songwriter has selected a personal highlight from each of his studio albums - and added three newer songs to them.
Chris de Burgh released his first album ‘Far Beyond These Castle Walls’ in 1974 - laying the foundations for a career that has now spanned five decades and, after numerous hits, over 330 compositions and a good ten times as many live shows (!), would ultimately even lead to his first major musical project (‘Robin Hood’). The Irish songwriter is celebrating this milestone with his album ‘50’, which combines personal favourites from 50 years as well as three newer compositions.
Born in Argentina and raised in Ireland, where he still lives and works today, Chris de Burgh (*1948) has been one of the few global stars to continuously inspire audiences since the mid-1970s: he now has a good 330 stunningly beautiful songs to his credit as a songwriter, over 50 million albums sold, plenty of precious metal and, last but not least, absolute global hits such as ‘The Lady In Red’. ‘We have been together now for half a hundred years’, say the lyrics of “It's Never Too Late”, and that is a reason to celebrate:
With the anniversary album ‘50’, Chris de Burgh looks back on half a century - in order to devote himself to the next tasks after the accompanying ‘50LO’ tour: ‘I've always been someone who looks up, up to the top of the mountain. I wonder what's next up there?’
