Der Pianist und Komponist Kemal Cem Yilmaz ist ein Sohn türkischer Einwanderer. Seine frühkindlichen musikalischen Erfahrungen wurden wesentlich geprägt durch türkische, persische und indische klassische Kunst- und Volksmusik sowie durch deutsche Kinderlieder.

Kemal Cem Yilmaz studierte Klavier an der Musikhochschule in Hannover bei Prof. Heidi Köhler, Prof. Markus Groh und Prof. Christopher Oakden sowie in Detmold bei Prof. Alfredo Perl. Außer-dem besuchte er die musiktheoretischen Seminare von Prof. Anton Plate, von dem er auch wichtige Impulse für sein kompositorisches Schaffen erhielt.

Improvisation und eigene musikalische Werke zu schaffen, sind für den Künstler seit frühester Kindheit ebenso selbstverständlich wie die Erabeitung und Aufführung zeitloser Werke der Klavierliteratur aus allen Epochen.

Der Schwerpunkt der künstlerischen Tätigkeit Kemal Cem Yilmaz´ liegt in der Türkei. Parallel dazu ist er bestrebt, sich im Konzertbetrieb anderer Länder ebenfalls zu etablieren, insbesondere auch in Deutschland. 2002 erhielt er den 1. Preis beim Nationalen Türkischen Klavierwettbewerb in Eskisehir. Die türkische Pianistin Idil Biret wurde zu seiner wichtigsten Förderin. In der Türkei entwickelte Kemal Cem Yilmaz eine rege Konzerttätigkeit mit namhaften Orchestern, renommierten Kammermusikpartnern und mit Soloprogrammen.

Als Komponist hat Kemal Cem Yilmaz eigene musikalische Ansätze und Ausdrucksformen gefunden. Sein bisher umfangreichstes Werk „700“ ist eine Auftragskompositon der Stadt Langenhagen zu deren 700 – Jahrfeier (2012) für Streicher, Orgel, Baglama, Perkussion/Schlagzeug, Flöte und Klarinette. Die Uraufführung feierte das Publikum mit minutenlangen Ovationen. Die Werke des Künstlers werden im Bellmann – Musikverlag verlegt.

Das Profil Kemal Cem Yilmaz´ wird abgerundet durch sein soziales Engagement beispielweise in Form von Benefizkonzerten für die Kindernothilfe oder sein ehrenamtliches Mitwirken am Musikprojekt „Rhapsody in school.“
