Info for 1994
He sings a tribute to his HIGHLAND GIRL, would unconditionally lay down 100 MILES for the love of his life, and dedicates an emotional declaration of love to HEATHER ON THE HILL – wherever singer-songwriter NATHAN EVANS stands at the microphone with his guitar, songs with depth and an unmistakable sound are inevitable. This is exactly what the musician stands for, who set course for our playlists, hearts and mindsets a few years ago – with groundbreaking success that led to a new chapter: his album 1994.
Then you've found it: the perfect person. An overwhelming feeling that NATHAN EVANS knows only too well, because the singer-songwriter not only married his school friend, but also knows that he and his wife will make it through any storm. In typical NATHAN EVANS style, the exceptional musician once again provides a perfect example of the fact that musical declarations of love do not necessarily have to wear the guise of a ballad. With ‘PERFECT STORM’, the Scotsman proves once again that deep messages and pop beats are not automatically mutually exclusive. Neither do anthemic choruses and tongue-in-cheek, romantic lyrics. In short: NATHAN EVANS' new single once again brings together what belongs together to catapult a catchy tune straight into our playlists.
When the waves come crashing down around me
When I’m with you they can do no harm
And when the dark clouds gather up above me
We’re gonna make it through this perfect storm
NATHAN EVANS looks back with gratitude, humility and love on all the years he has been able to walk through life alongside his wife. It's not just his partner who loves him for literally wearing his heart on his sleeve - but also his 1.8 million TikTok and 432k Instagram followers. Because it's precisely these real stories from the Scotsman's real life that they want to hear. Stories from life. Stories that only love can write and that make it possible to face a ‘PERFECT STORM’ full of vigour and confidence.
Nathan Evans
Nathan Evans
kickstarted the sea shanty phenomenon and it’s all down to him that a new generation are discovering the thrills of fisherman-themed, multi-harmonised folk music. It all began when Nathan, from Airdrie, North Lanarkshire in Scotland, decided to start uploading songs to TikTok after completing his morning duties as a postman. He soon found himself at the centre of a new cultural movement whirling around sea shanties with his own videos racking up millions of views overnight. Now, signed to Universal Music and taking his music career full time, he follows in the chart dominating footsteps of those he has always admired including Dermot Kennedy, Lewis Capaldi and Ed Sheeran as well as finding unlikely fans in Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gary Barlow and Brian May who have also uploaded their own renditions of the song to TikTok
From the 'Wellerman' to 'Heather on the Hill,' Nathan Evans' catchy sounds, deep lyrics, and unmistakable voice (including a typical Scottish accent) continue to touch and inspire people across the world. The story of Nathan Evans is reminiscent of a modern internet fairy tale. In 2020, the then-amateur singer triggered an international hype with his viral reinterpretation of the traditional song 'Wellerman,' creating a completely new musical genre: the sea shanty sound.
Now, after four years, a double-platinum record (UK), and countless awards later, Nathan is back with more music to share. The 29-year-old singer-songwriter lyricises stories from life, asking questions and providing answers, hitting listeners with nostalgia and heartfelt melodies, resulting in catchy singles such as 'Catch You When You Fall' or 'Driving To Nowhere.'
Moving through the genres of shanty sounds to pop, Nathan has landed on a happy medium of folk music. Combining soft guitar chords with deep words and traditional Scottish instruments, Nathan has unlocked the world of Scottish Folk Music with his hit single 'Heather On The Hill.' 'HOTH' is a love letter to his wife and his hometown of Scotland, with lyrics filled with colour and hope.
It is the tangibility, the authenticity, the closeness to home that make Nathan Evans the likeable, exceptional artist that he is. Since his musical journey began, he has been sharing his life and artistic work with his fans on social media. The numbers speak for themselves: almost 350k Instagram followers, more than 1.8 million TikTok followers, and 6.5 million monthly Spotify listeners. It is evident fans don't want to miss anything from the man who's gone his own way without losing sight of his roots.
