Info for Between Two Worlds

Efraim Schulz-Wackerbarth was born in Australia. At the age of 6 his family moved back to Germany. Efraim found himself in between two worlds and created a place of his own behind an old drumkit that he found in the basement of a church. These days he lives in Amsterdam with his wife and son, pending between his family in Germany and hers in the US.

When asked about musical references, Efraim says: “I actually listened to a lot of piano trios like Brad Mehldau Trio with Jorge Rossy or Keith Jarrett Trio with Jack DeJohnette. I also listened a lot to both of Miles Davis' 'great quintets', with drummers Philly Joe Jones and later Tony Williams.”

Australian-born percussionist Efraim Schulz-Wackerbarth is another beneficiary of the jazz pedagogy in Dutch conservatories. His master's degree research on the music of the great drum innovator Tony Williams connects him to the progressive stream of American jazz." (AllAboutJazz)
