Info for Instant Poetry (Just add words)
The Sarod might well be the most beautiful sounding instrument in the world with its body of wood, metal and skin and K. Sridhar is one of the very greatest sarodhyas today, deeply grounded in the Dhrupad tradition by Ustad Zia Mohiuddin since the age of five. He has a number of classical Hindustani albums, to his credit, some of them on our Country and Eastern label.
On this album Sridhar is experimenting with devotional music in free time, a music that might be well suited as a backdrop to yoga or other spiritual activities or just as a lovely background or intense listening experience.
All five pieces are based on raga Simhendramadhyamam and are not intended to be very different but rather give you subtle variations of the same very calm mood. He is accompanied on discreet percussion freely suggesting slow and spacious breathing rhythms.

Sarod player K. Sridhar started learning from Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar at age five so in spite of being of south Indian origin he is thoroughly trained in the Dhrupad tradition. He has toured all over the globe and has lived for long stretches of time in France, Great Britain and U.S. He has visited Sweden on several occaisons and has done four own albums on Country & Eastern and is a guest soloist together with Don Cherry on the “Live in Frankfurt” album by the Bitter Funeral Beer Band. He is also the tanpura player on our albums with Mohiuddin and Fariduddin Dagar: Raag Malkauns, Raag Gangeyabushan and Mishra Bhairavi on sitar, Dhrupad and Komal Ri Asaveri albums. Sridhar stays currently in Stroud in England.
This album contains no booklet.
