Info for The Journey Home

Many great thoughts have been shared about traveling whether it is a physical or a spiritual journey. This album represents three types of journeys in my life.

First of all as a session musician I’ve had the opportunity to be featured on numerous albums, movie scores and incidental music. After playing with countless performers for years, I’m finally at a point where I was able to record an album that features the music I love with the musicians I love to play with.

The second aspect is related to actual traveling. Thanks to music, I’ve been traveling frequently for more than 2 decades and I have visited more than 90 countries from Australia to the United States. It was during this period of time when I felt like I’m always on the road but it never felt like I had arrived. Although I still love traveling, now I spend most of the year in the rich musical community of Budapest, Hungary and it became my basis. It is great to have roots in the ground!

The third thing is related to the second one but it’s more of a personal aspect. When I think of my wife, Zsófi and our two beautiful children, Olivér and Hanna, I feel like I’m exactly at the place where I’m supposed to be. It really feels like home and I’m forever thankful for that!

Krisztián Csapó
Jazz trombonist Krisztián Csapó graduated from the Jazz Department of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music in 2007. In the past decade he has performed with several foreign and Hungarian orchestras, toured Australia and Asia as a member of SoulWhat, was a member of the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, accompanied Latin Grammy Award-winning flutist Nestor Torres in Miami and jazz trombonist Ed Neumeister in Hungary. In 2016, he created his own project, drawing on the music of Roy Hargrove, Nils Landgren and Janek Gwizdala to play with the great musicians of the younger generation.
