Info for Décroissant
‘My Way’ is the name of Greg Houben's new trio. For this new opus, Greg has chosen an intimate line-up: guitar: Quentin Liégeois, double bass: Cédric Raymond, and himself on vocals and trumpet. There will be a lot of singing involved, as he will be singing almost the entire repertoire.
‘My way’ is a cover version, but not just any cover version, but one that everyone knows and can sing. By singing this famous song by Claude François and others, Greg places us in a common space, that of our collective unconscious. He takes us on a journey to the depths of his soul, where the heart bleeds...
Greg: ‘I wanted to make “decreasing” music, without new material! A music where the adage ‘less is more’ would be present at every turn: fewer notes, fewer chords but above all, less desire to do, just ... do. To achieve this, I had to work on a common denominator with the audience, I wanted everyone to know what I was talking about after two notes, so that I could deliver my singularity straight away... My way.
Paradoxically, working on the cliché allows this differentiation and highlights the performer's point of view. As always, it will also be a question of enjoyment and direct pleasure when you hear songs like ‘Love me tender’, ‘Con te partiro’ or ‘il venait d'avoir 18 ans’... I can't wait to share this with you.’
