Info for One Week in Rio
"One Week in Rio" is the phonographic debut of the duo, as well as the world premiere of two exceptional pieces. The title suite, written by Sérgio Assad, and a new version of the History of Tango by Astor Piazzolla. Adam Woch and Robert Guzik are one of the most interesting guitarists of the young generation in Poland. They have made their common debut in one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world – Carnegie Hall in New York. Their debut album consists of two world premieres: the seven-movement suite One Week in Rio by Sérgio Assad, composer and guitarist of the legendary Assad Brothers duo and the famous History of Tango by Astor Piazzolla in a completely new version for violin and two guitars, recorded together with Roksana Kwasnikowska. The remaining repertoire is complemented by works by Latin American composers, which have been the most popular during the last years at the concerts of the ensemble.

Woch & Guzik Duo
Adam’s and Robert’s collaboration has been started in 2011. In 2013 duo started its concert and competition activity. Up till now the most important achievements were: II prize at the European Guitar Competition ‘Enrico Mercatali’ (Italy, Gorizia 2013). In the same year they were awarded at the International IBLA Grand Prize Competition competing with dozens of solists and ensembles from all over the world and different musical specialties. Musicians participated in tournee in the USA in 2014, playing his final concert on the 14th of May in prestigious concert hall – Carnegie Hall, NY. Therefore they won a 3rd prize during VII International Guitar Competition in Olsztyn, Poland.
Adam Woch
was born on August 7th 1991. At the age of seven he has studied under Zbigniew Dubiella at the Grazyna Bacewicz Music State School which he graduated in 2010. Simultaneously, from 2007, prof. Ryszard Balauszko from The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music has been directing Adam’s education, where presently continue his studies in Leszek’s Potasiński class. In the Academic Year 2011/12 he actually studied in prof. Carlo’s Marchione (Conservatorium Maastricht) as a faculty fellow.
About his talent indicate numerous awards at national as well as international guitar competitions listed below: I prize at the International Czeslaw Drozdziewicz Guitar Competition (Poland, Krynica Zdroj 2006), I prize at the IX International Gutiar Competition ‘FORUM GITARRE’ (Austria, Vienna 2006), I prize at the International Jose Tomas Guitar Competition (Spain, Almeria 2009), I prize at the International Guitar Competition (Poland, Olsztyn 2009), I prize at the International Guitar Competition ‘GUITARTALENT’ (Czech Republic, Brno 2012). He was a prize graduate of Polish Children’s Fund, The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage grant, Young Poland Scholarship. In March 2010 he was also granted a special ‘Young artist of the year’ award by the mayor of City of Koszalin.
Robert Guzik
was born on 17th June 1989 in Gdynia. He started his musical education at the age of six at Zygmunt’s Noskowski Music state School under mr Jan Kowalczyk. At present he is a graduate of Fryderyk Chopin University of Music under prof. Marcin Zalewski. In addition, he took masterclasses with such guitarists as: Odair Assad, Giampaolo Bandini, Aniello Desiderio, Zoran Dukiæ, Marcin Dylla, Florian Larousse, Kyu Hee Park, Thomas Muller-Pering, Marko Topchii and many others. During his secondary school education he was awarded with several national and international prizes: II prize at the International Czeslaw Drozdziewicz Guitar Competition (Poland, Krynica Zdroj 2008) and I prize at the National Guitar Competition (Poland, Gdansk) and many other national competitions.
