In releasing an album entirely of his own music, Guitarist, Lutenist and composer Lars Hannibal reected upon an extraordinary and somewhat unorthodox musical career. While studying classical guitar and lute with the great masters of the art, Hannibal lived a rich double life playing in a variety of bands and creative ensembles in artistic foment of 60s and 70s Counter Cultural Århus. Hannibal has also found great joy in arranging music for the different ensembles hes performed with, resulting in hundreds of arrangements for various instrumental combinations with guitar. Finally, as one of the most active musicians in Denmark, Hannibal has been a champion of living composer, including many of Denmarks nest, including Jørgen Jersild, Palle Mikkelborg, Herman D. Koppel, Thomas Koppel and Vagn Holmboe. When assembling this program, it was only natural that Hannibal would draw on both his original works and his arrangements of Danish song. As a special treat, Hannibal, ever the mutli-faceted musician, the Neo-Classic composer, the pop songsmith, the faithful arranger of Danish folk song also takes pride in being Hannibal the Poppa, with his daughters, Agnete and Amalie and his life-long musical companion, his former wife Michala Petri joining him on his musical journey!

Lars Hannibal
began playing the guitar at the age of 15 as many others of his generation. Some years later, a recording by Andrès Segovia, playing the Gavotte from Bach`s E-Major Partita, impressed him so much, that he decided to start playing the Classical guitar. He studied at the music Conservatory in Århus with Erling Møldrup, and from 1977-80 the lute with Toyohiko Satoh in The Hague. In 1980 Lars Hannibal formed Duo Concertante with violinist Kim Sjøgren, together they toured 15 years in Denmark, Germany, France, Spain and UK, giving more than a thousand concerts. As something new at the time they developed a concert form, where information, anecdotes and humor were an integrated part, easening up the concert form at the time. Many established Danish composers wrote works for Duo Concertante during this period. For EMI they recorded 10 albums with a repertoire ranging from the contemporary works composed for the Duo over famous classics (Paganini, Sarasate) to cross-over projects with artists from other genres. The openness towards genres was also influential in Duo Concertantes forming Birth of a Quartet in 1988 together with trumpet player and composer Palle Mikkeborg and Double bass Player Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen. Duo Concertante also toured and recorded with Danish Pop singer Birthe Kjær and Jazz violinist Svend Asmussen.
In 2004 Lars Hannibal started a project with Chinese Musicians in various formations, under the mutual name: Dialogue - East meets West. As part of this he was appointed curator for the Danish EXPO Participation in Shanghai 2010, where he brought Danish and Chinese artists together with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in a large show often shown at CCTV.
Further collaborations have included performances with Danish Actress Ghita Nørby in a performance having words and music in dialogue, taking up subjects of the present day.
