Info for Ramblin' Rose (Remastered)

Ramblin' Rose is a Nat King Cole album. It was released by Capitol Records in 1962, and features the popular title track. The LP peaked at #3 on Billboards album chart where it remained for more than a year. It was Nat's second gold album.

Nat King Cole was an American singer and jazz pianist. He recorded Ramblin Rose on 1962 that became the #1 hit song on the Billboard Easy Listening Charts and was nominated for Record of the Year in the Grammy Awards. Cole was the first African-American performer to host a variety television series ‘The Nat King Cole Show’.

"Often imitated, Ramblin' Rose is a great crossover album for Nat to ease into Country Western. It's little wonder Ramblin' Rose topped charts and was nominated for Record of the Year. With orchestra and chorus arranged and conducted by Belford "Sinky" Hendricks (in similar fashion to collaborations with Count Basie, Sarah Vaughn, Diana Washington and a young Aretha Franklin) this album manages to flow seamlessly from classic easy listening to popping guitar rhythms ala Luther Perkins (Johnny Cash). Other than the title track, standouts include "I Don't Want It That Way", Goodnight Irene Goodnight", "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "One Has My Name..." To the 21st century ear this is the kind of music producers like David Lynch or Vince Gilligan use to highlight strange character scenes - kind of smooth and almost creepy." (Tim Reid)
