Info for The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis

The music of the experimental jazz-punk trio from Washington DC, consisting of former members of the punk band Fugazi (bassist Joe Lally, drummer Brendan Canty) and guitarist Anthony Pirog, has already been labelled with the unusual genre label "Jazz-Punk-Jam". On their first album for the iconic Impulse! label, the three have now teamed up with jazz saxophonist, composer and bandleader James Brandon Lewis. Together, The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis are now pushing the boundaries of instrumental music through unusual intersections of jazz, punk and funk, aggression and innovation.
