Info for Songbook
"I've Got You Under My Skin" - Pierre Génisson and Monica Belluci and many other stars.
With their melancholic authenticity, chansons have already captured many hearts. It was not without reason that legendary director François Truffaut said in one of his films: "I only listen to chansons because they tell the truth..." This characterful genre also appealed to the French all-round clarinetist Pierre Génisson. He expanded his multifaceted repertoire, which ranges from classical to jazz to folk music, to include this nostalgic genre with the album Songbook. The selected songs were arranged by Génisson's long-time comrade, pianist and composer Bruno Fontaine. Together they created a new sound cosmos based on well-known American standards and classics of French chanson.
The two musicians gained support from high-profile surprise guests to implement the individual songs. Actress Monica Bellucci lends her sensual voice to the popular love song "I've Got You Under My Skin" by Cole Porter. Guitarist Thibaut Garcia plays Charlie Chaplin's film melody "Smile" from the 1936 classic Modern Times. Jazz singer Youn Sun Nah interprets Serge Gainsbourg's lascivious, laid-back chanson "La Javanaise". In addition to other singers, Benoit Dunoyer de Segonzac can also be heard on the double bass and Fabrice Moreau on the drums.
