Info for Hjemveier

Singer and songwriter Kristin Asbjørnsen is one of the most distinguished artists on the vibrating extended music scene in Europe.

Kristins long awaited album HJEMVEIER, based on her new songs with Norwegian lyrics, will be released 7 June 2024.

Over the last decade, Kristin has received overwhelming international response from critics and the public alike for her personal and unique musical expression.

2021 saw the release of Kristin’s soundtrack song to the film maker Bent Hamer’s The Middle Man, and in 2018 Kristin released her latest album Traces Of You. Kristin’s enchanting songs, based on her commissioned work for Global Oslo Music in 2016, were met with outstanding response. Kristin has written all music and lyrics.

Due to the pandemic situation, several concerts in Norway, Italy and Germany were cancelled 2020/2021. During 2021-2023 Kristin has mainly been touring in quartet with Olav Torget / Eivind Aarset / Anders Engen, performing songs from Traces Of You, from her African-American spirituals repertoire as well as introducing her brand new songs. In 2022 Kristin made a special concert commissioned by Cosmopolite’s 30th anniversary, Oslo, where her ensemble also included kora player Suntou Susso and singer Monica Ifejilika.

Kristin is well known for her great live-performances and she is touring with extraordinary musicians. The Norwegian singer has featured on a number of album releases, as well as a series of tours and festival performances in Europe. She has won several national Music Awards. In France, Kristin became the winner of the Mondomix Babel Med prize in 2009. Her previous solo albums I’ll meet you in the morning (2013), The night shines like the day (2009) and Wayfaring stranger (2006) were released across Europe via Emarcy/Universal. Wayfaring stranger sold to Platinum in Norway.

Kristin made the score for the movie Factotum (Bukowski/Bent Hamer) in 2005. Kristin collaborates with the piano player Tord Gustavsen. During many years Kristin focused on work with her musical ensembles Kvitretten, Dadafon and Krøyt.

Kristin Asbjørnsen
Singer and songwriter Kristin Asbjørnsen is one of the most distinguished artists on the vibrating extended music scene in Europe. Over the last decade, she has received international response from critics and the public alike for her personal and unique musical expression. Kristin now has a new supergroup where the Traces Of You album and her personal interpretations of African-American spirituals form the framework for the concerts.

Kristin Asbjørnsen will release her upcoming solo album «Hjemveier» in spring 2024. The album marks her first Norwegian-language release and explores new musical terrain. The songs, written at Kristin’s piano, bear the fruits of her close collaboration with Olav Torget, Eivind Aarset and Anders Engen, and with Suntou Susso (chora/vocals) and Monica Ifejilika (vocals) as important accompanying voices. The Norwegian songs are like our sensations; about detachment and attachment, brought forward by the special presence in Kristin’s song. With strong melodic flair and poetic lyricism, voices, rich guitar worlds, piano, calabash and kora are woven together in luminous organic soundscapes.

The new Norwegian songs have already garnered many praises, with performances during Kristin’s commissioned concert for Cosmopolite Scene, during Maijazz, the Varanger Festival and a number of club concerts.

This album contains no booklet.
