Nach „Miscela“ (2014), der Jazz-Kantante „Geboren unter diesem weichen Wind“ (2017) und „Fun Flowers“ (2019) ist das „Fallalarenko“ das Album, das sich am deutlichsten im Jazz verorten lässt. Dafür sorgt alleine schon die Besetzung. Mit Max Leiß (Kontrabass) und Julian Fau (Schlagzeug) verbindet Böhlen seit Jahren ein musikalisches Band.

„Ich bin mit Alben von Gitarren- Trios aufgewachsen und fand es immer reizvoll, die Freiräume zu nutzen, die ein solches Dreigestirn bietet. Vor allem die Möglichkeit, die Unmittelbarkeit des musikalischen Moments in den Vordergrund zu stellen“, so Böhlen. Sich mit jedem Album auf neue musikalische Wege zu begeben, ist dem 35-jährigen Gitarristen enorm wichtig. „Ich bin an vielen Dingen interessiert und möchte diese Vielfalt auch in meinen Platten zum Ausdruck bringen“, stellt er klar.

Sebastian Böhlen
has an international performing career including concerts at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Berlin Philharmonic Hall and Montreux Jazz Festival. Among others he worked with Al Jarreau, Kurt Elling, Randy Brecker, David Liebman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Sanders and Ziv Ravitz. As a bandleader, sideman, arranger, composer and producer Böhlen can be heard on many recordings and countless radio broadcasts.

In addition to that Sebastian received numerous awards in various competitions including the Socar Montreux Jazz Electric Guitar Competition, Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis, Best Composition Award at the Tremplin Jazz D'Avignon, ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award and Praetorius Musikpreis Niedersachsen. Furthermore he got scholarships from the German Exchange Service, Manhattan School of Music, Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony.

He studied Jazz Guitar at Manhattan School of Music and Mannheim University of Music. In addition to that he studied Composition at Cologne University of Music.

From 2013 - 2017 Sebastian taught improvisation at Mannheim University of Music, since 2019 he teaches electric guitar at Berlin University of the Arts.
