Info for GAIA 2021
From the very beginning, the GAIA Music Festival Oberhofen has stood as a small island of peace and contemplation in the whirling hustle and bustle of everyday life. Classical music is the elixir of life, prepared and presented by a select group of great musicians from all over the world.
This year everything is different. The prescribed ‘quiet’ was suddenly there and the music was no longer allowed, indeed could no longer be there, not to mention the typical GAIA family togetherness. The birthday party for Ludwig van Beethoven was cancelled. Now the spirits and the urgent need for togetherness and shared experiences are returning. We can't, indeed don't want to, resist this!
GAIA has invited an incomparable ‘Composer in Residence’: Beethoven himself! His influence continues to make waves in the waters of art and his sparks fly as if he were still with us. Beethoven's baton of inspiration is constantly being passed on, and so GAIA shows manifold examples of how fertile Beethoven's fire is and was in his time. Because he manages the rarest of things: to move people of all cultures and backgrounds, with different tastes and interests. I believe that his music essentially epitomises what makes us human: the triumphant victory of the spirit over all adversity.
May its divine sparks and those of our artists transport you to a different and inspired emotional world that we have all missed. We will take all necessary and binding precautions. Fortunately, music overcomes all distances!
