Info for La Sultane
With "La Sultane", André Manoukian explores his Armenian roots through his piano, which has become his intimate memory, his cultural heritage and a language of tenderness. Surrounded by Mosin Kawa's Indian tablas, Guillaume Latil's cello and Gilles Coquard's double bass, he weaves a dialogue between East and West. Each composition is an arabesque of sound, drawing a horizon without frontiers.
"Ma Sultane, that's what my mother called my little sister before devouring her with kisses. A Turkish word to express the overflowing love of Armenian mothers for their daughters. The boys could be heard whispering: my Pasha."
André Manoukian, piano
