Info for Concerto: Works for One & Two Harpsichords

Following much critical acclaim for his debut solo album, Ciaccona, harpsichordist Guillermo Brachetta returns to the Resonus label with Concerto, a thrilling programme of works for one and two harpsichords composed senza ripieno.

This stunning album features J.S. Bach's Italian Concerto, the second part of his Clavier-Übung, and solo concerti from Wilhelm Friedemann Bach and Carl Heinrich Graun. Brachetta is joined by Menno van Delft for the original two-harpsichord version of J.S. Bach's Concerto a due cembali in C major, BWV 1061a.

Guillermo Brachetta
I began piano studies at an early age in my native Argentina, but immediately after discovering the voice of baroque turned my devotion to the harpsichord. Having arrived in The Netherlands in 1995, I studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Jacques Ogg and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Menno van Delft, my true mentor.

I also followed classes with Gustav Leonhardt, Bob van Asperen, Christophe Rousset and Lucy van Dael amongst others.

I performs with Emmy Verhey, Amsterdam Bach Solisten, The New Dutch Academy, the Catherine the Great Baroque Orchestra (Saint Petersburg, Russia), Holland Symfonia, Orkest van het Oosten, Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia (La Coruna, Spain) and Magogo Kammerorkest.

Together with Menno van Delft I'm founder of the "Collegium Wilhelm Friedemann Bach", devoted to the rediscovery of the work of the unjustly neglected Wilhelm Friedemann Bach.

I'm also very active as a music editor and researcher and works in close cooperation with Cambridge University Press and other international institutions, having edited numerous works from the XVII and XVIII centuries for first time publication. In 2008 I co-founded the baroque ensemble Fantasticus, with which we recorded 5 albums and toured in Europe and Japan.
