Info for One
Born in Frankfurt, Nora Kamm operates in the border area between jazz, afro and fusion. Kamm began playing the flute at the age of twelve, discovered the saxophone five years later and studied jazz at the Lyon Conservatory. She released two albums with the band Dreisam and played with musicians such as Michel Benita, Manu Dibango, Andy Sheppard, Cheick Tidiane Seck and Erik Truffaz. After moving to Paris in 2018, she intensified her interest in East African sounds and rhythms.
They are rare, the female artists who stand out on the international jazz scene and are driven by a deep desire to share their love of music. The saxophonist, flutist, singer and bandleader Nora Kamm is one of these passionate musicians.
After years of performing around the world in groups or alongside big names on the international scene (Michel Benita, Paco Séry, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Pascal Obispo, Tayc, Andy Sheppard, Mariana Ramos, Manu Dibango, Émile Parisien ... ) and two critically acclaimed albums with her band Dreisam (Révélation Jazz Magazine, FIP Radio Album of the Week, Prix soliste Selmer pour Nora...), she now throws herself along under her own name into a new musical adventure with their album ONE, which will be released on January 27, 2023.
Between jazz, afro and fusion, ONE unfolds his compositions like transcultural dances and songs that radiate a warm and cheerful light. Not only because it is the artist's first project under his name, but also because to say ONE means unity, the merging: of musical genres, cultures and peoples. And what better way to express this unity than on stage? Nora Kamm puts her virtuosity at the service of emotion, playing with the saxophone's plasticity to free it from its usual practices and careful to let it sing like a multitude of human voices. The performance begins and we are enchanted from the first notes. The hips roll, the head bobs and the feet just want to dance. The body is enchanted and you just have to let yourself be carried by this unique energy.
"To get straight to the point: ONE is breathtaking." (Denis Desassis, Citizen Jazz)
