Info for Ain't Got Time To Die

NZ based blues artist Solomon Cole unleashes his most powerful and personal work to date with the release of his new album, Ain"t Got Time To Die. A searing blend of Southern Gothic blues, gospel fire, and soul-drenched storytelling, Ain"t Got Time To Die is a cinematic and deeply emotive journey through love, loss, redemption, and resilience. Rooted in the raw beauty of his island home and infused with the spirit of the American South, Cole"s latest work transcends genre-equal parts sermon and storm. Within its brooding intensity and emotional depth, the album showcases Cole"s commanding vocal presence, gritty guitar work, and a sound that is at once timeless and fiercely original. "This album is about survival-spiritual, emotional, creative. It"s the blues as I"ve lived it," says Cole. Produced with a live, analogue sensibility that captures the fire of Cole"s stage performances, Ain"t Got Time To Die marks a new chapter for an artist long respected as one of New Zealand"s most unique and passionate voices in blues and soul music. Produced and mixed by Eddie Rayner (Split Enz, Crowded House) and native NZ engineer Nick Abbott, the record breaks dirt for Solomon and sets the tone for compelling solo work.

Solomon Cole
is a genre-defying blues artist from Waiheke Island, New Zealand, known for blending raw Delta blues with trance rhythms and rock 'n' roll swagger. As the frontman of The Solomon Cole Band, he has opened for international acts such as The Animals(UK),The Supersuckers(US), and Martha Davis & The Motels(US), MY BABY (EU) and Solomon was also selected to open for The Marcus King Band (US) in 2020, as part of King's planned tour of Australia and New Zealand

In 2025, Cole launched his solo career with the forthcoming album, Ain’t Got Time to Die, recorded partially live at a WWII installation Stony Batter on Waiheke Island, and in varying locations and mixed by veteran producer Eddie Rayner(Crowded House, Split Enz)and Nick Abbott. The result is a dense and atmospheric collection ranging from rough house blues,to Americana, and much more. Released through his own label,Hoop-LaRecords, and distributed in Europe by Dixie Frog Records, the album showcases Cole's commitment to authentic, high-energy music that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Evoking the folklore of Tom Waits, his sound marries the blues effigies of Son House, R LBurnside, embraces the spirit of Howlin' Wolf-all the while delivering it with a swagger and holla. Solomon Cole ushered forth an electrifying rock'n'roll momentum with the release of his debut album ‘Bruises’ in 2016. Hailed as one of the year’s best releases, 'Bruises'erupted onto the local scene–receiving rave reviews (Mike Alexander Sunday Star Times rated it one of the year's best releases), charting on both the NZ Local album and Independent NZ Music Album charts (at 19 and 11 respectively) and culminating in a nomination for the Taite Music Prize for Best Debut Album. NASCAR US FOX Sport TV recently featured their song ‘Ring Your Bell” on their station also.

Solomon has spent the last 24 months crafting Ain’t Got Time to Die. Alongside this, he also participated in iconic NZ band SPACE WALTZ reunion in 2023. He wielded guitar duties on their come back album VICTORY(which reached number 4 in the NZ album charts)and the band achieved a number 1 album with the re-release of their debut record in the same year.It was here that he developed a good relationship with iconic NZ musician Eddie Rayner who went on to help bring his debut solo album to life.

The Solomon Cole Band
are a 5 piece multi gendered, multi ethnic mix of musicians from the bohemian paradise of Waiheke Island.

They've opened shows for Martha Davis & The Motels (US), My Baby (Europe), The Animals (UK) and The Supersuckers (US) and Solomon Cole was also selected to open for The Marcus King Band (US) in 2020, as part of King's planned tour of Australia and New Zealand. Their music and stage show is a high energy burst of classic soul and blues music set to trance type backbeats, electrifying guitar and voodoo like rhythms, multi layered female vocals that comes wrapped up in one little rock n roll bundle of energy and style.

Evoking the folklore of Tom Waits, their sound marries the blues effigies of Son House, R L Burnside, embraces the spirit of Howlin' Wolf - all the while delivering it with the trance and roots rock'n'roll swagger. The Solomon Cole Band ushered forth an electrifying rock'n'roll momentum with the release of their debut album ‘Bruises’ in 2016. Hailed as one of the year’s best releases, 'Bruises' erupted onto the local scene – receiving rave reviews (Mike Alexander Sunday Star Times rated it one of the years best releases) , charting on both the NZ Local album and Independent NZ Music Album charts (at 19 and 11 respectively) and culminating in a nomination for the Taite Music Prize for Best Debut Album. NASCAR US FOX Sport TV recently featured their song ‘Ring Your Bell” on their station also.

'A Little South Of Heaven', their sophomore album set to be released in 2022 and represents the evolution of a band on the threshold of taking hold and their emergence from the underground. The Solomon Cole Band will shortly no longer be NZ's best kept little secret.

"This is music which is incredibly emotional, as the listener is taken on a journey which is totally genuine, and it is hard to believe this is coming from New Zealand. Fans of the likes of Leadbelly and Charley Patton are going to be amazed that music like this is being produced in 2020" - Kev Rowland (Music.Net.Nz)/ “a demon of a track drenched in blues and the sort of dark country rock that has you fearing what’s lurking beneath the cabin woodpile” James Belfield ( The Weekender)
