Biography ALBAN

Alban Sarens
grew up on the southern edge of Antwerp and, after many wanderings, returned to the place where it all began. Following the suicide of the mother of his two daughters, he radically changed course. He left his demanding job as artistic coordinator at Trix to fully dedicate himself to music once again. That decision led to his debut album ‘To Break Your Heart’ — a musical reflection of three intense years of mourning, sorrow, and the search for what love truly means.

Throughout these years, Alban returned to his core as a musician in an attempt to grasp what words could not express. His saxophone became his voice — translating emotions and thoughts into compositions that carry both sorrow and light. The result is music that doesn’t demand attention but instead creates space: for stillness, for reflection, for connection. Alban crafts a sonic landscape where grief transforms into growth, where silence holds as much meaning as sound, and where music gently points the way toward comfort.

His music transcends genres, always seeking sincerity, nuance, and sound with soul. His playing is intuitive, layered, and comforting. While Alban has often been the driving force or sidekick in many projects such as Sir Yes Sir, Stef Kamil Carlens, Guido Belcanto, Ellen Schoenaerts, Equal Idiots, Slow Pilot, Baloji, … he now finds the strength to tell a story under his own name, a story of connection and solace. ‘To Break Your Heart’ will be released in February 2026.
