Minsoo Hong
was born in 1993 in Busan, South Korea. He received his first piano lessons from In-il Kim at a young age and later studied at the Korea National University of Arts with Daejin Kim and Yoon-Ju Oh. At the age of nine, Hong performed with the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and gave his first solo recital at the age of eleven.
He has won prizes at national and international competitions, including the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, Isang Yun International Competition, and International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht. His concert activities have taken him worldwide to Germany, Holland, Italy, France, Morocco, Israel, Norway, the USA, China, Japan, and Korea. He has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and Korean National Symphony Orchestra as well as the Dutch Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Hilversum.
On the radio, Minsoo Hong has been heard on WDR3 and on the Dutch radio station NPO Radio 4. A live recording of the Franz Liszt Piano Competition has also been released on CD. Since 2013 he has been studying at the University of Music in Detmold with Alfredo Perl. Since 2022 Minsoo Hong has also taught at the University of Music in Detmold.
