Biography Daniel Brandt

Daniel Brandt
Academy grad Daniel Brandt began his journey into electronic music after playing the drums in jazz, rock and pop bands, as well as classical orchestras. He started the duo Scott with his close friend Jan Brauer, and together made it look easy to produce jazz-influenced club tunes for forward-thinking dancefloors. When they both met the modern classical composer Paul Frick, though, their imaginations were really sparked, leading to the formation of Brandt Brauer Frick. Since 2008, they’ve built their collaborative sound on a foundation of live acoustic instruments and electronics, gradually forming their own kind of acoustic techno. In 2017, Daniel Brandt is stepping out on his own with a solo album on the prestigious Erased Tapes label. Eternal Something was initially plotted out as a cymbal album, but evolved into a more ambitious and complex undertaking as Brandt travelled across the globe, experimenting with different instruments and various collaborators. At this year’s Sónar Festival, Brandt brings his new record to the Red Bull Music Academy SonarDôme stage.
