Info for Ride Lonesome

Beck returns with Ride Lonesome, his first album of all-new material since the GRAMMY-winning Hyperspace, arriving September 18 via Capitol Records. Harkening back to the rich, atmospheric sounds of Morning Phase and Sea Change, the album reunites Beck with musicians from those acclaimed releases. Produced by Beck and mixed by Nigel Godrich, Ride Lonesome marks a compelling return to the intimate, cinematic style that defines some of his most celebrated work.

"The musicians from my original touring and recording band that I recorded Sea Change, Morning Phase and Mutations with – Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr, and Jason Falkner – reconvened with me at my favorite studio (Room B at United Studios in Hollywood). We had Nigel Godrich, who worked on Sea Change and Mutations with us mixing all the songs. It had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded Morning Phase. This time It felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened – a sound that’s come together over the decades of working together. While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way.” (Beck)

Beck

Beck David Hansen
is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, recognized for his experimental and genre-blending style. After gaining widespread recognition with his experimental, lo-fi single ‘Loser’ in 1993, Beck quickly climbed the charts and secured a major label contract with DGC Records. This breakthrough led to the release of his third album, ‘Mellow Gold,’ in 1994, alongside ‘Golden Feelings,’ ‘Stereopathetic Soulmanure,’ and ‘One Foot in the Grave’ that same year. Beck solidified his reputation for genre-blending innovation with the critically acclaimed album ‘Odelay’ in 1996, which produced hit singles such as ‘Where It’s At.’ His work also extended to film, contributing ‘Deadweight’ to the soundtrack of ‘A Life Less Ordinary’ in 1997.

Beck continued to demonstrate his versatility and innovative approach with subsequent releases. He released the country-influenced ‘Mutations’ in 1998, earning him the Best Alternative Music Performance award at the 42nd Grammy Awards in 2000. This was followed by the funk-infused ‘Midnite Vultures’ in 1999. A significant artistic evolution arrived with ‘Sea Change’ in 2002, a melancholic acoustic album that garnered widespread critical acclaim.

Most recently, Beck released ‘Odyssey’ in collaboration with Phoenix in 2023, continuing to push artistic boundaries and engage audiences with new material.
