Info for The Ocean Sleeps Alone Tonight

The final solo album from Frank Hammersland (1969-2023) “The Ocean Sleeps Alone” will be released on 11 October 2024. He almost managed to record the entire album before his passing, having recorded vocals for 8 of the 10 songs. Marthe Wulff and Sergeant Petter took care of vocals on the final two. The band on the album is mostly his regular backing band, The Love Connection, with a little help from friends like Thom Hell, Frode Unneland and more. The album was produced by Bjarte Jørgensen and Vidar Ersfjord.

"Frank. The pop kid with a twinkle in both eyes. The music nerd who never gave an inch in countless discussions. The guy it was always fun to bump into in the street. Or the pub. Buddies with all of Bergen and all of Oslo. With more musical talent than the rest of us combined. The man who soundtracked our youth with Pogo Pops, excelled in Popium, found perfect working partners in The Love Connection and Evig Din For Alltid (Eternally Yours Forever) and made solo albums dripping with finesse. Frank, who wrote songs that we’ll carry with us forever. Thanks to everyone involved for making sure we get to hear these songs. Emotionally, the great sense of loss that hits you when Frank’s voice comes floating out of the stereo is tough going - but at the same time it feels so incredibly good, too. The best songwriter in Norway came through all the way to the end." (Tor Otto Mjelde, NRK P13, translated by Erik Fossen, Bergens Tidende)

Frank Hammersland

Frank Hammersland
