Info for Advent

With Advent, Art Garfunkel Jr. releases his first Christmas album on November 28, 2025 – just in time for the start of the most wonderful time of the year.

The US singer, born in 1990 and possessing an unmistakable voice, presents 14 festive classics and traditional songs, which he sensitively transforms into his own unique soundscape: sometimes minimalist and intimate, sometimes surprisingly modern and danceable.

A special highlight: Three moving duets with his father, Art Garfunkel, which build on the success of their joint Top 5 album. From "Auld Lang Syne" and "The First Noël" to "Silent Night" – Advent is a soundtrack full of warmth, reflection, and magic.

Peace and quiet, a wealth of emotion and reflection to round off the year: Art Garfunkel Jr. announces his first Christmas album, "Advent," inviting his fans to unwind and dream. After the acclaimed US singer recently dominated the top of the Official German Album Charts multiple times and even cracked the Top 5 with his father (as Garfunkel & Garfunkel), Garfunkel Sr. is also featured on the first Christmas single: Their captivating rendition of "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" (Lennon/Ono) will hit playlists on November 7th!

Even this first single makes it clear that Art Garfunkel Jr. isn't relying on loud effects for his first Christmas album – and that's precisely why he achieves maximum emotional depth: Focusing on his incredibly high vocals and dreamily weightless arrangements, he and his longtime producer Felix Gauder (Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville, Andrea Berg, Maite Kelly) delve into the emotional core of the compositions he's selected, revealing their essence by consciously embracing minimalism, the "less is more" principle.

Plenty of space and tranquility also provide the framework for the father-son duo's vocals on the first single, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)": "A very Merry Christmas/and Happy New Year/Let's hope it's a good one/Without any fear," goes the still-relevant message of peace that John Lennon and Yoko Ono first released in the USA in 1971. Here, exceptionally, the songs are in English – Art Garfunkel Jr. recorded the majority of the songs on "Advent" in German, a language the American-born singer has mastered like a second mother tongue for many years – and his producer has opted for gentle keyboard waves for the arrangement, punctuated by explosive accents: an epic soundtrack for the holidays.

The accompanying "Advent" album comprises 14 beautiful tracks, captivating interpretations of traditional songs and Christmas classics, which Art Garfunkel Jr. has transformed into his own unique soundscape with immense feeling. Mostly arranged in a minimalist style, there are also surprising excursions – into sunshine, into the eighties – and he even brings his father, Art Garfunkel, to the microphone for three reinterpretations.

Originally from Manhattan, NYC, and having moved to Berlin as a teenager, Art Garfunkel Jr. (born 1990) has recently followed impressively in his father's footsteps, while forging his own path: His German-language solo debut album, "Wie Du" (2021), proved to be a sensational Top 10 success in the German album charts (where it remained for almost 30 weeks!), and its successor, "Evergreen" (2023), also entered the Top 15. The album "Father and Son," released with his father as Garfunkel & Garfunkel, even reached the Top 5 of the Official German Album Charts in November 2024 and also garnered considerable critical acclaim internationally (including US Rolling Stone, Forbes, NYT, NME, and the Sunday Times).
