He returned to his jazz roots after meeting in France a New Orleans clarinetist who introduced him to street concerts in Normandy where he settled with his family at 17 years old. He studied Jazz at the Amercian School of Modern Music in Paris from which he graduated in 2009 in the presence of Lionel Loueke as guest of honor. He obtained in 2011 a DEM (Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales: Musical studies diploma) after Jazz Music Studies at Noisiel Conservatoire (France) with Fréderic Favarel. In 2013, he received a scholarship to study at the New School for Jazz and New Contemporary Music in New York. Since 2005, Hugo shares his passion with students, both beginners and advanced, through in-person classes.
