Info zu Room To Dream
It's a collaboration that began at the time of the covid, in a complicated period for musicians, but also for the entire live performance sector.
In these dark times, Monika and Hugo get together to improvise and play songs they love, creating a new spark!
In their musical communication, we find a unique language, driven by improvisation, fine and varied sound textures created by effects pedals, as well as original compositions in a variety of languages: Spanish, Greek, Portuguese, English, French.
Sometimes they revisit jazz standards too, stretching the form to make it their own.
Monika Kabasele, vocals
Hugo Corbin, guitar
Srdjan Ivanovic, drums
Please Note: We offer this album in its native sampling rate of 48 kHz, 24-bit. The provided 96 kHz version was up-sampled and offers no audible value!
Hugo Corbin
is a French-born jazz guitarist, arranger and composer who was raised on the Caribbean island of Martinique. Hugo was inspired by the live street concerts happening everyday in Martinique and by his mother, a jazz singer. Very early on, Hugo learned the ropes of playing guitar listening to Led Zeppelin, Queen and Jeff Buckley. He returned to his jazz roots after meeting in France a New Orleans clarinetist who introduced him to street concerts in Normandy where he settled with his family at 17 years old. He studied Jazz at the Amercian School of Modern Music in Paris from which he graduated in 2009 in the presence of Lionel Loueke as guest of honor. He obtained in 2011 a DEM (Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales: Musical studies diploma) after Jazz Music Studies at Noisiel Conservatoire (France) with Fréderic Favarel. In 2013, he received a scholarship to study at the New School for Jazz and New Contemporary Music in New York. Since 2005, Hugo shares his passion with students, both beginners and advanced, through in-person classes. He also performs extensively throughout Paris scene, New York and Manchester where he regularly plays mostly Jazz in duo to quintet and Big Band.
