The world of Jazz regularly acquires new talents; they are very often talented technicians, but very seldom a guarantee of emotion and pleasure. The practice is punctuated with a delicate and complex learning, with a rare mastery of time and a permanent open-mindedness.

As early as at the age of 19, Shai Maestro deepened his experience as a sideman of Avishai Cohen. After five years on the most prestigious stages at the four corners of the world, time for independence has come, along with time for creation.

Filled with traditional culture, both classical and jazz, Shai Maestro has polished his playing of the piano and his talent for composition but has also been able to surround himself in the best way: Ziv Ravitz on drums (Lee Konitz, Esperanza Spalding …) and Jorge Roeder on double bass (Roy Haynes, Gary Burton, Julian Lage …). An entrancing trio on record, a magical one on stage.

...Equally impressive is the piano playing of Shai Maestro who is now a key member of the ‘live’ band promoting it. His tasteful, less-is-more poignant playing which can develop into a really subtle, satisfying groove with bass and drums is especially evident on the track called ‘Pinchas’, which is arguably the strongest of the album’s many highlights.
