La Spagna
The La Spagna ensemble, which takes its name from one of the most famous melodies of the Renaissance, was founded by Alejandro Marías in 2009 by bringing together some of the best historically informed musicians of his generation. With a very flexible format, it has two aspects, as a chamber group and as a baroque orchestra, with which it performs opera and oratorio together with guest soloists and conductors.

The styles tackled by La Spagna range from the Renaissance to the early Romanticism —with some foray into 21st century music—, although most of its activity focuses on the Baroque. This diversity always revolves around the same principle: to offer a passionate, trustworthy and sincere interpretation that respects the historical and social perspective of each repertoire.

Since the publication of their album A Tribute to Telemann, La Spagna has recorded the works for viola da gamba by Jacques Morel (Brilliant Classics) and Las Siete Palabras by Haydn-Barbieri. In recent times, the group has performed in places such as the Symphonic Hall of the National Music Auditorium, the Royal Palace or the Congress of Deputies, as well as in the Seville Festival de Música Antigua, Santander Festival, the Festival Internacional de Arte Sacro or the Festival de Música Española of Cádiz. aus Sopelana im Baskenland begann ihre musikalische Ausbildung am Konservatorium von Leioa, wo sie im Kinderchor sang und Gitarre lernte, bevor sie zum Studium des lyrischen Gesangs zu Olatz Saitua ans Conservatorio Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga in Bilbao wechselte.

Im Jahr 2013 erwarb sie einen Abschluss in Musikalischer Sprach- und Musikpädagogik am Conservatorio Superior de Música del País Vasco, wo sie derzeit ihre Studien in lyrischem Gesang bei Maite Arruabarrena (Gesangstechnik) und Maciej Pikulski (Interpretation und Repertoire) zum Abschluss bringt. Außerdem setzt sie ihre Ausbildung bei Carlos Mena fort, bei dem sie sich auf Alte Musik spezialisiert hat.

Parallel zu ihrer Tätigkeit als Gesangslehrerin und Chorassistentin bei Basilio Astulez begann Jone Martínez eine rasante Karriere als Gesangssolistin. Ihre stimmlichen und künstlerischen Qualitäten wurden von bedeutenden Dirigent*innen geschätzt, unter denen sie die Solopartien in zahlreichen Werken der Renaissance, des Barocks und der Klassik sowohl in Spanien als auch im Ausland, in Städten wie London, Cambridge und sogar Hongkong, gesungen hat.

Jone Martínez wirkt regelmäßig als Solistin des Ensemble Conductus und der Capilla Santa María. Sie arbeitet mit Soinuaren Bidaia und anderen spezialisierten Gruppen wie Musica Ficta, Quondam und Capilla Michael Navarrus zusammen. Kürzlich sang sie mit dem Orquesta Sinfónica de Burgos, dem Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla und übernahm die Solistenrolle in Händels Messias unter der Leitung von Carlos Mena mit dem Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia. Überdies hat sie mehrmals an der Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca und an der Semana de Música Antigua de Estella teilgenommen.
