Info zu Can You Feel It
Rick Braun is a true superstar of the contemporary/pop jazz genre. A hot ticket as a solo artist Rick also headlines several top-grossing jazz packages. Rick's public profile has never been higher. In fact, coming off of a #1 single from the latest BWB release and knowing his fan base has waited patiently for a solo release, Rick crafted CAN YOU FEEL IT like a fine wine. Like a ripe jazz varietal the tunes flow and ignite the senses; then your body releases it's internal finger-snap/head-bob/toe-tap receptors.
You can feel his genuine sense of gratitude as much as you can feel the joy he pours into his music and the fun he has creating it. On Can You Feel It, Braun fondly conjures the spirit of Beat Street in a return to his jazz-funk roots while continuing to record and collaborate with old and new musical friends.
"Rick Braun's 2014 studio album, Can You Feel It, features more of the trumpeter's smooth jazz and funky crossover pop stylings. Produced by Braun, the album is his fourth released via Mack Avenue Records and follows up his 2011 album, Sings with Strings. However, where that album found Braun branching out into vocal standards, Can You Feel It features a return to the groove-oriented, largely instrumental jazz of his early work." (Matt Collar, AMG)
"That really leaves the title cut. It’s another smooth jazz classic, maybe a bit busier (wilder?) than any of the other cuts. Interestingly Braun plays the valve trombone here giving the cut an unusual and intriguing flavour, moving it towards classic Crusaders territory. Smooth jazz? Yep, it’s all here." Rick Braun
A native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, trumpeter Rick Braun first surfaced in the 1970s as a member of the jazz-fusion band Auracle, formed while he was a student at the prestigious Eastman School of Music.
In the 1980s, Braun turned his hand to songwriting, scoring a hit with REO Speedwagon’s “Here with Me.”
Directing his style toward contemporary jazz, in 1992, he released his debut solo album, Intimate Secrets (Mesa), followed in 1994 by two solo albums, Night Walk and Christmas Present, featuring him playing muted trumpet and flugelhorn. With 1995’s Beat Street, Braun’s popularity and chart-topping success continued to snowball, solidifying his solo career. Rick’s 2022 self-titled album, Rick Braun, marked his 30th anniversary as a solo artist. Rick has garnered at least 30 Billboard #1 songs and is a two-time winner of the Gavin Report’s Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year award.
As a studio musician and touring member, Rick has worked with Natalie Cole, Glenn Frey, Tom Petty, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, War, and Sade. Braun is part of a jazz group called BWB, with saxophonist Kirk Whalum and guitarist Norman Brown. He frequently performs live with musicians such as Candy Dulfer, Dave Koz, Jackiem Joyner, and Peter White.
With his hand in a variety of roles in the smooth jazz scene, Rick has worked as a music producer for Peter White, David Benoit, Marc Antoine, Jeff Golub, Richard Elliot, and Boney James.
