Info zu Je te veux

For her fourth solo album, the French soprano has chosen to pay tribute to Erik Satie (1866–1925) and the Belle Époque era through melodies and songs by some of his contemporaries.

By offering original arrangements with piano, accordion, violin, and double bass, she recaptures the spirit of the cabarets of the Roaring Twenties. For this project, she is accompanied by Alphonse Cemin (piano), Félicien Brut (accordion), Alexis Cardenas (violin), Davide Vittone (double bass), as well as Levy Sekgapane (tenor) and Florent Baffi (bass).

In France this season, we will see Julie Fuchs in December at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées for the new production of Robinson Crusoe, in January at the Philharmonie de Paris for two concerts, and in May and June at the Opéra Bastille for the new production of Ercole Amante.

She will also be performing the program from the album "Je Te veux" in concert in January-February in Orléans, at the Théâtre de l'Athénée in Paris and at the Opéra d'Avignon.

“Je Te Veux” brings together melodies, duets, and songs by Erik Satie (whose centenary we celebrate in 2025), Fay Templeton and Yvette Guilbert, Claude Debussy, Gustave Charpentier, Aristide Bruant, Emmanuel Chabrier, Léon Xanrof, Igor Stravinsky, Pierre-Jean de Béranger, Antoine Renard, Cécile Chaminade, Francis Poulenc, and Germaine Tailleferre. Cabaret songs, melodies, and opera arias mingle joyfully.

“With lightness, whimsy, and tenderness, I conceived this program as a tribute to freedom. The freedom of Erik Satie, a unique and elusive figure, who knew how to innovate and navigate boldly between styles and genres, defying any strict definition.” And the one who inspires me, as an artist open to the diversity of expression and multiple musical worlds. This album is an invitation to stroll through the bohemian, effervescent, and arty Paris of the Belle Époque and the years that followed. It features cabaret songs, sometimes playful, sometimes lyrical, slow waltzes, vocal exercises—then fully rehabilitated—spoken texts, subtle and impressionistic melodies… all forms that compose a vibrant and colorful journey. Surrounded by four musicians as virtuosic as they are sensitive, I had immense pleasure in bringing these treasures back to life, some rare or forgotten, from Chabrier to Chaminade, from Bruant to Poulenc. The tailor-made arrangements, crafted especially for this project, reveal all the modernity, humor, and melancholy of this unique repertoire. Never before has recording an album been such a space for creativity, collective exchange, and shared joy for me. I hope this energy reaches your hearts and accompanies you like an ode to freedom, in a vibrant, nostalgic, playful, and liberated Paris. Music gives wings to those who dare to take flight. Julie Fuchs
Hailed for her "generous temperament" and "agile and radiant voice", French soprano Julie Fuchs is a rising star in the operatic world.

In 16-17 Julie will make her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper and sing Marie in La fille du régiment in Lausanne. Other engagements include significant roles at the Opera Comique, Teatro Real Madrid, Opera d'Avignon, as well as returns to the Theatre des Champs Elysees, Aix-en-Provence Festival, to the Paris Opera in a major new production in the 16-17 season, and several major roles at the Opernhaus Zurich.
