Radio Antiqua

Radio Antiqua
was founded in The Hague in 2012 by a group of young international musicians specialized in the performance of early music on period instruments.

Winner of both jury’s and public’s prize at the International Händel-Festspiele Göttingen Competition 2014, it has been invited as Artist in Residence of the Centre Culturel d’Ambronay (France), Collegio Ghislieri in Pavia (Italy), and Károlyi-Kastély (Hungary).

The ensemble regularly performs in many specialized series in The Netherlands and has appeared at important international festivals such as Innsbrucker Festwochen Der Alten Musick (Austria), Göttingen Händel Festival (Germany), Grachten Festival, Utrecht Oude Muziek Festival (The Netherlands), Festival d’Ambronay (France) and Pavia Barocca (Italy).

Their first CD “Forgotten Treasures of the German Baroque” will be released by Ambronay Editions in September 2015.

This season’s performances include Istanbul’s Opus Amadeus Chamber Music Festival and the concert series of the Händel House in Halle (Germany). Radio Antiqua will form the core of the 2015 European Baroque Academy during an extensive European tour, directed by Enrico Onofri.

In 2015 they will continue to be supported by Eeemerging, a large-scale European cooperation project which promotes the emergence of new talent in early music.

Showcasing a varied instrumentation which features violin, recorders, dulcian, baroque bassoon, lute, baroque guitar, theorbo, harpsichord, cello and organ, its repertoire ranges from the Seicento to pre-classicism. Radio Antiqua delivers multiform performances engaging their audience with a fresh and dynamic approach to live music-making.
