The Spiritual Meat Grinder, stylised in all caps as “THE SPIRITUAL MEAT GRINDER” is the third mixtape by Australian singer and songwriter Zheani Sparkes, due to be released on the 25th of August, 2023. There was a lot of confusion as to what this record would actually be due to the announcements being tied with her debut album (making it slightly unclear as to what project belongs to what). There is not much information available to the public, having only been announced officially on Zheani’s Patreon and through an interview, as well as in comment sections.

With an output both prolific and unapologetic, her sonic evolution is heard across her five EP’s EIGHT (2018), THE LINE CENSORED (2019), SATANIC PROSTITUTE (2019), THE ZHEANI SPARKES EP (2020) and I HATE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET (2022) where she smashed together elements of Trap Metal, Industrial Drum ‘n’ Bass and Gothic Electronica. ZHEANI sings, raps and howls on tracks like ‘Skinwalker’ and ‘Whore Of Babylon’. On the opposite end of the spectrum, ZHEANI’s fan coined genre “Fairy Trap” weaves a fairy ring surrounding the harsh darkness with the softer Hyper Pop and Melodic Trap moments like ‘Lulu’, ‘Lava’ and ‘Yippy Ky Yay’.
