As a teenager, the press notes tell me, guitarist Kenny Burrell’s album God Bless the Child profoundly marked Bruno Bongarçon’s career. As a teenager I had my first experience of jazz guitar when late on Saturday night home from the bar, I heard Charlie Byrd’s Blues For Night People marking the moment I grew to love jazz guitar.

Twenty seconds into this new album from Bruno Garçon, Be Yourself, Looking at Kenny Burrell I knew that I would be purchasing this album soon after release date of June 5. That’s really all I have to say.

I’m sure there will be other reviews that will give the reader the musicians technicians viewpoint of how instruments are played, the production techniques and so on, full of the clever stuff. However simply taking the track playing at present, Fuzzy Frog, the guitar is played with great enthusiasm and the flute weaves in and out as a cat runs though long grass on a summers day and I hear the drums providing the rustle of leaves blown in Autumn. The beauty of images that this music creates. It really is a perfect as God created the world, except this world of Bruno Garçon will not go wrong.
