"Pictures & Moods" was Holloways 2nd studio album in 2007. Water Wheel was recorded in Sheffield infamous Yellow Arch Studios, the same studio that gave us The Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley and Jarvis Cocker. Pictures & Moods has been remastered and re-released for 2025.

"I've always been fascinated by proverbial folklore and stories, from all over the world really. I think it's because of their salience. Little bits of wisdom like this are unselfish and powerful. They cross international borders, races, cultures and time. These are things our ancestors wanted us to remember. To help us on our way. I love writing songs and poems that feature a thing we all have in common, something that connects us, you know. Like finding that your socks have just disappeared or the underlying, uncomfortable dissolution we all feel with modern society, and told through a little story or metaphor." (Mike Holloway)

Holloway's songs are companions. They travel with you on the road of life. Poignant and heart warming. Enigmatic and timeless. Their poetic nature asks you to think about what you know about the world. They can both comfort you and inspire you. They'll last a lifetime. ​

Mike Holloway is a singer/songwriter from Derbyshire in the UK. Mike grew up in a landscape littered with the ghosts of the agricultural and industrial revolutions.

As a boy Mike loved exploring the woodlands and walks scattered and abandoned throughout the peak district. The stories and sounds that feature in Holloway's music often include local tales and folklore.

​ From the years 2003 to 2012, Pulp's guitarist Richard Hawley recorded a string of albums in a studio in Sheffield being narrowly beaten to a Mercury Music Prize by the Arctic Monkeys (who came from the same studio).

Holloway worked in this studio throughout this period and was able to observe Hawley and other legendary Sheffield musicians writing and recording. This was a tremendous gift and inspiration to Holloway.
