Les Bienveillantes wurde vom Opera Ballet Vlaanderen auf Anregung des Regisseurs Calixto Bieito in Auftrag gegeben und basiert auf dem Roman von Jonathan Littell, einem harten und monumentalen Werk in Bezug auf Länge, Thema, Umfang und Tiefe – ein Bestseller in Frankreich, Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française und Prix Goncourt, übersetzt in über zwanzig Sprachen –, das von Maximilian Aue, einem ehemaligen SS-Offizier, in der ersten Person erzählt wird.

Zusammen mit Klaus Händl, der das Libretto schrieb, hat Hèctor Parra eine musikalische, intellektuelle und menschliche Meisterleistung vollbracht. Dieses 3-fach-Album von b-records, die die neue Kollektion »Villa Médicis Live« eröffnen, ermöglichen es uns, die außergewöhnliche Weltpremiere mit einem erstklassigen Gesangsteam und dem großen Dirigenten Peter Rundel noch einmal zu erleben.
