Info zu Paseo por el Amor y el Deseo (Remaster 2015)

„Luis Eduardo Aute is an icon of modern Spanish singer-songwriting since the 60s, so he is one of those authors who has been able to gather a huge number of compositions and albums of high quality both in the lyrics as well as in the music dimensions. Already in his sixties he has just released a new production, 'A día de hoy' (2007). For me he is among the Spanish singer songwriters the one who knows to compose a fine 'content song' (social, collective problems), as well as an 'erotic' song, yes, 'erotic', which is different to say a 'love son', that he knows how to handle well too.

It is difficult to make a greatest hits collection of such a prolific auteur, and that is why the one that is being shown here is recommendable, because it somehow manages to put together the most representative songs by Aute from the late sixties to early eighties period. Considering the fact that it is in this period that Aute creates a big part of the songs that will make him deserve a brilliant place in the history of popular Spanish music, this is the best place to start with him. The collection has the title of 'Paseo por el Amor y el Deseo', which translate as 'Promenade through Love and Desire'. Here we have classic songs of his like 'Al Alba', 'Anda', 'Slowly', 'Pasaba por aquí', plus the anthemic Spanish song of the late 60s, 'Aleluya No.1', which is one of his most proverbial songs in the 'social songs' genre, and 'Rosas en el Mar', this one more known once in the voice of Massiel. You will enjoy the eroticism of songs like 'No te desnudes todavía' (Do not get naked yet'), 'Cuerpo a Cuerpo' (Body against Body). And, ¿how about that song that is at the same time kind of erotic and also reflective of human and social problems, 'La Belleza' (The Beauty)? You will find in Aute the exact mix of melody and harmony, and of beauty and depth that you can only discover in great artists. That, I assure to you.“ (Jose Artiles-Gil)

Luis Eduardo Aute
is a Spanish musician, singer-songwriter, film director, painter and poet. First Years in The Philippines: Luis Eduardo Aute was born in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on September 13, 1943. His father, a Catalan (from Catalonia, Spain), had been working in that country since 1919, for a tobacco company, and was married to a Filipina of Spanish descent. In his childhood, Aute studied at the De La Salle School, where he learned English and Tagalog, which is used within his family. At an early age he showed great ability as a painter and sketcher. Another childhood passion was cinema; his interest in filmmaking was abetted by his parents' giving him an 8 mm camera, which he used to produce home-made movies with his friends.

At 8 years old, he traveled to Spain for the first time. In Madrid, with the Hotel Avenida Orchestra, he sang for the first time in public, interpreting the song Las hojas muertas (The Dead Leaves). At age 9 he watched "On the Waterfront", a movie that had a powerful influence on him and inspired him to write his first poems in English. Another cinematic influence at that age was the movie Niagara, where he discovered the eroticism and sensuality of Marilyn Monroe.

Return to Spain: In 1954 after a short stay in Barcelona, Aute returned definitively to Madrid, where he studied in the "Colegio Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas" (Catholic School). At 15 years old, with his new guitar received as a birthday present, he performed at an end of school party, as part of a trio with two friends. During these years he was very influenced by German Expressionism, and dedicated most of his time to paint, winning a silver medal in a Spanish 'Juvenile Art Contest'.
