Das von dem französisch-ungarischen Dirigenten Bruno Kele-Baujard gegründete und geleitete Ensemble Zene hat sich auf gewagte und unkonventionelle Programme spezialisiert. Sein vielsagender Name - "zene" ist das ungarische Wort für "Musik" - weist auf das magyarischsprachige Repertoire hin, und so ist es nur natürlich, dass es seine zweite Aufnahme den A-cappella-Werken von Bartók, Kodály und Ligeti widmet, deren hundertjähriges Bestehen im Jahr 2023 gefeiert wird.

Hungarica erkundet die Vielfalt ihrer Sprachen, von Bartóks Miniaturen (Négy régi magyar népdal) bis zu Ligetis geheimnisvollen Klangschichten, und öffnet gleichzeitig ein Fenster zur faszinierenden ungarischen Vorstellungskraft, die von einer Folklore genährt wird, die sowohl den Text als auch die Musik durchdringt.
