Info zu The John Adams Edition

John Adams ist eine der wichtigsten musikalischen Stimmen Amerikas. Seine Tonsprache ist zugleich unverkennbar und von unendlicher Vielfalt. Minimalismus mischt sich mit fantasievoller Orchestrierung und jazziger Verve – ein Kosmos voller Energie und Farbe, der immer neue Facetten enthüllt. Während der Saison 2016 / 2017 hat John Adams die Berliner Philharmoniker als Composer in Residence begleitet. Dabei widmete sich das Orchester unterschiedlichsten Werken: vom Oratorium The Gospel According to the Other Mary und der prominenten Harmonielehre bis zu unbekannteren Kostbarkeiten. Geleitet wurden die Konzerte von Chefdirigent Sir Simon Rattle und herausragenden Gästen: Gustavo Dudamel, Alan Gilbert und Kirill Petrenko. Und auch John Adams selbst gab im Zuge dieser Partnerschaft sein Debüt als Dirigent der Berliner Philharmoniker. Für die Gestaltung der Edition konnte der weltbekannte Künstler Wolfgang Tillmans gewonnen werden.
