Vincent Lhermet
(born 1987) is one of the most remarkable French accordionist of his generation. He graduated from the Sibelius Academy of Helsinki-Finland with the highest honors in the class of Matti Rantanen. He is the first ever accordionist to be admitted to the Doctorate of Music Performance (PhD) at the Paris Conservatoire/Paris-Sorbonne University, where he is working with Laurent Cugny and composer Bruno Mantovani.

He has distinguished himself several times internationally by winning the first prize in the Arrasate-Hiria International Competition in Spain (2006) and by being ranked finalist in the “Gaudeamus Interpreters” International Competition of Amsterdam (2011), considered as one of the world’s most prestigious contemporary music prize, open to all instruments.

Vincent Lhermet regularly performs worldwide as a soloist with orchestras (Sibelius Academy orchestra, Orchestre d’Auvergne, Secession orchestra, Ensemble Court-Circuit …), conducted by Charles Barbier, Guillaume Bourgogne, Jean Deroyer, Clément Mao-Takacs in prestigious venues such as the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Musiikkitalo Helsinki, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, showing the richness of his instrument in a repertoire that ranges from the Renaissance to the present. Several of his performances have been broadcasted live or recorded by the Finnish National Broadcasting Company (YLE) and France Musique. Lhermet is very active in promoting the accordion contemporary repertoire. As such, he has performed in many festivals (Musica Nova, Musiques Démesurées, Les Rencontres Contemporaines, le Printemps des Arts de Monte Carlo…) and has collaborated with composers such as Franck Bedrossian, Tomas Bordalejo, Frédéric Durieux, Philippe Hersant, Martin Iddon, Martin Matalon, Florent Motsch, Matti Murto, François Narboni, Jukka Tiensuun Mikel Urquiza…

After recording his first CD in 2011 “Winds of Ireland and elsewhere” for accordion and clarinet, his new album “Correspondances” has just been released in the collection “Young soloists of the Paris Conservatoire”.

He is regularely invited to give lectures in various congress, music academies, and to sit in the jury of international competitions. His last publication “Accordion Higher Level Education In Europe” has received an international acclaim.

For the quality of his artistic work, Vincent Lhermet has received the support of the Paulo Foundation, the Sibelius Academy, the LUSES Foundation, the Meyer Foundation, the Mécénat Musical Société Générale, the Fondation d’Entreprise Safran and the Fondation d’Entreprise Banque Populaire.

He is currently teaching accordion at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire and the Lille (ApPSEA) and Paris-Boulogne-Billancourt (PSPBB) Higher Arts Educations Centers.
