Info for TWO FOR THE ROAD

Sherine Wong’s musical path has been a journey, which started over three decades ago in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and continues to this day all over the world.

Though singing called to her at a young age, Sherine’s varied interests meant that she first became Malaysia’s track and field representative at the Asian Junior Games. This attention eventually culminated in being selected as both a Miss Malaysia Universe winner and a Miss Asia representative. Subsequently, Sherine’s model looks enabled her to work on a long series of television and print campaigns for such clients as the Malaysian Tourist Board, HSBC, Ocean Park, Vidal Sassoon, Levi’s, Samsung and Shiseido, as well as dozens of others. The poise Sherine displayed in these commercials lead to a starring role in the Japanese independent film “Fly Me To Minami”.

But throughout, recording albums and performing at shows was always the ultimate goal for Sherine. After intermittent concert appearances in Hong Kong and the release of several Cantopop songs, Sherine studied her first love jazz via mentor-ships with top musicians in Hong Kong, Japan and New York.

Now, Sherine is preparing her first jazz influenced solo album, which was recorded with top musicians in Hong Kong following writing sessions around the world. The release captures Sherine as she offers a series of originals and covers that recall the smoky, languid lounges of yesteryear and performances by past legends that include Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday.
